Font Friday | Xiomara

Today's font is my new favorite script font.  Isn't it gorgeous?  It was just released last month, and it's already been downloaded 50,000 times!

Font Friday | iFontMaker Strikes Again

I talked about iFontMaker a while ago.  If you haven't heard of it, it's awesome.  If you have an iPad, definitely check it out.  For example, here are 2 fonts I put together in about 10 minutes each.  The app comes with font templates you can load as a guide, so I just loaded the typewriter font and traced each of the letters.  Then I did the same with Helvetica.  Easy peasy.  To download, follow the link under each example.

If you use one of these, I'd love to see what you do with it.  I'll also be hugely flattered.

Font Friday - Mathlete

It's another skinny hand-drawn font today.  I just can't get enough.

 (download here)

I'm not a huge fan of the funky "M" and "W", so it's handy that the lowercase options, while still uppercase letters, are slightly different and don't include those x's.

See my other skinny hand-drawn picks here.

Font Friday - Underwood Champion

I'm liking the typewriter font trend lately.  Unfortunately, the only typewriter font I have embraces the really messy vintage feel, and sometimes I want something slightly cleaner while still having personality.  Luckily I came across Underwood Champion this week because it totally fits the bill.

Font Friday - Rochester

Yikes!  It's been a month since my last font friday!  But I think this one is worth the wait because it is gorgeous.  I think it might fill the space in my heart that Aya Script would fill if I was willing to spend $30-50 on a font.  But since my obsession with fonts is a hobby rather than a business, it's lucky that fontsquirrel has such wonderful free font options.

Font Friday - Old Stamper

Today's font is Old Stamper:

 (download here)

It reminds me of the old school "Top Secret" and "Confidential" stamps.

 (see what I mean?)

Thanks for reading!  Enjoy the weekend!

Font Friday - Indy Pimp

For this week's Font Friday, take a gander at Indy Pimp:

I am loving this font in my Project Life album for titles this week.  It's casual without being sloppy.

And if you're in the market for some Halloween fonts, check out these lists here, here, and here.

Font Friday - WhimsiKel Script

I am so excited about today's font!  Because it's MINE!  You may recall that getting my cursive handwriting into a font has been a goal of mine for some time (it's even on my 32 by Thirty-Two list).  I was just about to bite the bullet and pay $25 to get it, but then I came across the coolest iPad app ever.  It's called iFontMaker, and you can literally make your own handwriting into a font in about 5 minutes.  It takes longer for a script font, but it's still not outrageous.  There are several great reviews of the app, so I won't share much about the process (you can read all about it here and here), but I do want to show off my font:

And here's a quick comparison between the font and my actual handwriting:

Obviously the transitions aren't as smooth in the font, but I think it's pretty impressive nonetheless.  I think I might do some more tweaking, but I couldn't wait to share!

If you'd like to download it, feel free.  I'd love to hear what project you're using it for!

In other news, cross another item off my 32 by Thirty-Two list; I went to spin class last night!  It was brutal.  In a good way.  I've completed a few other items on that list, but I haven't made the time to blog about them yet, so stay tuned.

Thanks for reading!

Font Friday - Thin Hand-Drawn Fonts

It's time for another Font Friday.  Sorry it's been so long.  I hope you enjoy these fantastic thin hand-drawn options.

And if the free options don't quite fit the bill, check out Strangelove (inspired by one of the hubby's favorite movies) which is only $12 at Myfonts.com.

Font Friday - Illuminate

I'm sorry I missed Ten-Pin Tuesday AGAIN this week.  I have a great excuse reason, but it mostly boils down to spending less time on the computer, which is a good thing, right?  Next week, though, I'm on it.

For this week's Font Friday, meet Illuminate:

I love this one for projects related to kids.  I used it for an alphabet book and for the Child of God prints I made for some friends.  It's a nice blocky font that's sketched randomly enough to keep it fun.

Font Friday - Riddle

As you know, I've been a little obsessed with fonts lately.  So I figured I'd follow the Font Friday trend and share a fun font on Fridays.  (Like we need another reason to be excited it's Friday, amiright?)

Meet RIDDLE:

I like this one because while it's all lowercase, some of the letters are formed differently between the upper and lower case.  For example, the k, r, and z.  One is a traditional cursive letter and the other is printed.  So if you are trying for something a little more natural, you can vary the letters within the word or sentence.  Nice, right?  And of course it's free.  While I would love to, I can't justify spending money on fonts.  Yet.

Fun with Fonts 2

It's that time again!  Here are some more of the great (free!) fonts I've come across recently.  I also have a Digital Freebies pinterest board where I pin most of the font roundups I come across.  As always, I'd love to hear suggestions if you have some favorites you'd like to share!

Fun with Fonts 1

Happy Leap Day!  As I promised in my first Ten on Tuesday post, here is my first fond roundup!  I think I might be clinically addicted, though.  Actually, I luckily kind of burned myself out the second time I stayed up until midnight (I know!  Midnight!) organizing fonts on my computer.  It took me a whole day of detox before I could do anything with my computer but pinterest and email.  Sad.

But enough about me.  Here's a breakdown of just a selection of some of the great (free!) fonts I've discovered lately.

After I think I've found all the great free fonts there are, I still find even more.  So please comment  and let me know of any that you've found that you particularly love (with a link, if you can find it).

Ten on Tuesday - Inaugural Post

Happy Valentine's Day!  Welcome to my inaugural Ten on Tuesday post.

1.  I'm addicted to Pinterest.  Since I (so far) put a lot of the great ideas I find into action, I think it's manageable for now.  But I might need a ten-step course pretty soon.

2.  Fueled, in part, by Pinterest, I'm now wholly addicted to fonts.  I find more cool fonts all the time.  There's a font round-up in the works, but in the meantime, check out this selection of roundups from my "digital freebies" Pinterest board:

3.  I love the banner I made for Lincoln's monster truck cake.  I have every intention of doing something similar to revamp my changing seasons wreath for the summer (maybe something kind of like this).

4.  Last week, my friend Natalie made me the most amazing cupcake specimen art for my kitchen.  She was inspired by this one at Patches of Pink.  Didn't it turn out great?

It's the central piece for the latest iteration of my kitchen wall revamp that's been a work in progress for almost 5 years now.  More on that later.

5.  If you're interested in making your own specimen art, here's a link to Natalie's tutorial for a butterfly one she did.

6.  My renewed interest in blogging has also created in me a desire to revamp my blog header.  I'm actually still pretty happy with my overall blog layout, but I want something a little less amateurish for the header.  (I like to think the layout is "simple" rather than "amateurish," but I have no illusions about the header.)  I'd like to put my budding PSE (Photoshop Elements) skills to work.  So add that to the list of things to come.

7.  Have you seen these ideas for 5-year journals?  There are other variations floating around as well.  The important aspect to me is to write down only one thing each day.  Do that for five years and see how things have changed.  How clever!  But index cards seem impractical, and I was hesitated too long to get the book in a reasonable time, so I just decided to do my own variation in a google document.  I write one thing each day (or for the past 2 or 3 days, occasionally), and then leave it until tomorrow.  It breaks journal-keeping into something I think I can maintain better long-term.

8.  Speaking of journaling, is anyone doing Project Life?  I haven't done a lot of research, mostly because I tanked at scrapbooking and didn't want to be reminded of that failure.  But I find myself intrigued.

9.  Any recommendation for iPhone camera apps?  I've been using Camera+ a lot lately, but I'm wondering if there's something a little more robust and user-friendly.

10.  I'm looking for a 5k to run in the area in the late May time frame.  We'll be out of town over Memorial Day, unfortunately.  Though, if there's a 5k in Boston Memorial Day weekend, that might actually be perfect.  Any suggestions for either Huntsville or Boston?
