Project Life | Weeks 16 & 17

I'm a few weeks "behind," but it's all part of my process.  Some weeks I just don't feel it, so rather than making myself finish, I just cut myself some slack and pick it up later.  I'm so in love with this project that there's no risk of quitting altogether, and giving myself a break and only working when I'm motivated means I'm always motivated when I work on it!  Circular logic?  Perhaps.  But it works.

Week 16 Full Spread.

Week 16 Left Side.  Picture heavy week, so most of my journaling is on the right side of the spread or on the photos.  I am still loving Bebas or Corbel for captions on photos.  Want to know a secret?  That exact picture of the boys banging on their "drum" never happened.  I had three photos, and I liked Mason in one and Lincoln in a different one, so I used GroupShot to combine them.  I've said it before, but I seriously love technology.

Week 16 Right Side.  More Bebas.  A picframe collage.  And a highlights card with a quick summary of the main happenings of the week.  It's just a green rectangle with a white text box on top.  I wrote "highlights" in a text box with no background and white text.  If you don't know how to do this in Word, play around, look up a tutorial, or ask me!  Word is so much more versatile than people understand, and I love being able to design my own cards to fit my mood and the spread.

 Week 17 Full Spread.

Week 17 Left Side.  That picture of Mason on the piano is blurry, but it's so cute I had to include it.  And soccer was still going strong, but I wanted a picture that wasn't just a bunch of blue jerseys on the field, so I tried to capture another part of the game.

Week 17 Right Side.  We ran our half-marathon on Saturday of this week, so I devoted this whole page to it AND included an insert.  My first insert EVER, in fact.  But this was a pretty big deal for us.  The picture in the upper right looks funky because it is.  I accidentally cropped the bottom of the picture off, and I was trying to figure out how to make it work anyway.  But I think I'll have to just reprint it.  And the reason I can't just crop it to 4x6 is that this is another moment that never happened.  Tyler and I took pictures of each other standing by that sign, and then I used a panoramic stitch in PSE to splice them together.  The shots didn't line up enough for GroupShot.  I'm pretty impressed with what PSE managed to produce, though.

Week 17 Insert.  As I said, this is my first insert so far, and it's still a work in progress.  I am planning to add a picture of our medals in one of the slots on the back, and then I have another slot I'm still brainstorming on.  And I like being able to use the window cling along the side, but I might need to figure out a different way to attach it.  It's pretty faded on the front since you're looking through 3 layers of page protector.  Also, I haven't cropped it yet because I'm scared.  What's the best way to crop a page protector?  Should I sew it and then cut it?  Should I cut it and then tape it?  I'd appreciate some advice.
